Our Mr. Vegas, Eddie Escobedo Sr. passed away on October 15, 2010 and the NAHP Board of Directors voted to hold the 2011 convention in Eddie's hometown of Las Vegas and dedicate it to him in late October 2011.

Mr. Escobedo was the President of the National Hispanic Press Foundation and a former President of the National Association of Hispanic Publications. The annual convention will honor Mr. Escobedo's contributions to Hispanic media as he made an impact in radio, television and the newspaper industries.
Hispanic publication publishers from throughout the country and Mexico from our colleagues of La Asociación Mexicana de Editores de Periodicos convene every year to share best practices and learn from experts in such areas of editorial, advertising, sales and marketing.

The majority of the presentations at the 2011 convention will encompass the nuts and bolts of providing readers with a print, online and mobile version of a publication - provide the reader with the format that they wish to receive the news in and in the language they prefer. The National Hispanic Press Foundation will hold its annual Student Voices in Media Day during the annual NAHP convention.

A silent auction and reception prior to the NAHP Awards Gala Dinner on the Friday evening will be to raise funds for the Foundation's scholarships and internships. The NAHP is accepting sponsorships, calls for presentations and exhibitors through June 2011.
