Opportunities for Giving to the Foundation
Why Give?
Now is the time to put our support behind America’s young achievers. Their wisdom, perspectives and commitment will define our future. Each year, the National Hispanic Press Foundation receives more applications from students across the country seeking support for their education. At current funding llevels, NHPF can support only a few Scholars annually. NHPF supports individuals who will continue to excel, who will continue to succeed, and who will continue the highest traditions of the journalism legacy. With your help, NHPF Scholars will continue to rise to the needs and challenges of society.
General operating support as well as support for specific NHPF programs and activities are critical to the work of the Foundation. The following are giving opportunities for ensuring the health and sustainability of the NHPF mission.
Restricted Giving
It is critical that a not-for-profit organization such as the National Hispanic Press Foundation annually receive gifts that are not specified for a specific purpose. This unrestricted revenue is crucial to meeting NAPF’s operating needs that include staff salaries, office space and marketing materials. It also is important for enabling the organization to plan based upon dependable, sustained, and increased annual giving from dedicated contributors.
Sponsor Professional Development
The bedrock of NHPF is our Education and Leadership Development Program which provides puiblishers, editors and journalists with leading edge education, professional development and skills training. You can provide this vital support by sponsoring a commitment of $40,000/4 years @ $10,000/year or a one-time payment of $40,000. Annually, this provides $6,000 in scholarship support, $1,200 for networking support, and $2,800 in direct program support for each participant.
Event Sponsorships
Each year across the country,NHPF hosts a number of events that depend upon the support of sponsors who receive specific benefits for their support. The net proceeds from our events provide direct support for NHPF and our programs.
Planned and Estate Gifts
The “ultimate gift” is one that is planned or deferred resulting from a contributor’s financial planning, which can be made by a contributor of any age. Through gift instruments such as bequests, life insurance, stock, trusts, annuities, real estate, jewelry and art, contributors can meet, combine and maximize their income, beneficiary, tax, and charity goals. NHPF welcomes these gifts, and we will recognize these contributors in our “Legacy Society.”
Endowment Support
The maintenance and growth of an endowment is critical to supplementing, sustaining, and proliferating the operations, mission and vision of the National Hispanic Press Foundation. The NHPF Board of Trustees, our Finance Committee and our Investment Committee, in accord with prudent and fiscally responsible practices, review the NHPF investment portfolio, earnings projections and funding demands to assure the highest level of contributor stewardship and strategic organizational support.
The “Legacy Campaign”
The NHPF Board of Trustees have begun the “Legacy Campaign” to raise $20 million to develop the National Hispanic Press Foundation Scholarship for Hispanics to serve as a cutting-edge educational and leadership development funding center. A SCHOLAR Program capable of supporting journalists is long overdue and will be a fitting, meaningful, and active vehicle for continuing NHPF’s vision and ideals through enriching and inspiring the lives others.
