Founding NAHP Convention
December 2-5, 1982 Town & Country Resort, San Diego, Ca
Part of the National Hispanic Media Convention. The National Association of Hispanic Journalists was also founded at this event. Our name was chosen and voted on here.
April 11-15, 1984 Capital Hilton, Washington, DC.
Second convention of the National Hispanic Media Convention with the NAHJ.

First independent NAHP Convention. Edward James Olmos, Luis Avalos, Ignacio Gomez, and Pepe Serna participated.
April 24-28, 1985 DoubleTree Hotel, Tucson, AZ.
The third convention of the National Hispanic Media Convention with the NAHJ.
April 23-27, 1986 Omni Hotel, Miami, FL.
The third convention of the National Hispanic Media Convention with the NAHJ. Gloria Estefan, Miami Sound Machine, Edward James Olmos, Culture Clash, Geraldo Rivera participated. Zeke Montes was award one of the first Otli Awards given by the Mexican Government.

The fourth convention of the National Hispanic Media Convention with the NAHJ. The Hispanic Association of Media Arts & Sciences (HAMAS), an entertainment industry organization, was added as a third partner. Luis Valdez screened La Bamba and Culture Clash also participated.

Stand and Deliver was screened with Jaime Escalante, financier Michael Milken, and Edward James Olmos participating.
April 6-9, 1988 Hyatt Regency, Dallas, TX.
The fifth convention of the National Hispanic Media Convention with the NAHJ and HAMAS. Edward James Olmos screened Stand and Deliver and gave a six-hour press conference for over 800 journalists.
January 12-14, 1989 Sahara Resort, Las Vegas, NV.
The first NAHP student scholarships were given.
April 19-22, 1989 San Juan Convention Center, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The sixth and final convention of the National Hispanic Media Convention with the NAHJ and HAMAS. It was sad to see these amazing events with 1,500 plus attendees end.

Special event at the National Press Club where the NAHP welcomed President Clinton to the National Press Club, mending an oversight of the National Press Club. Secretary of Housing Henry Cisneros and Secretary of Transportation Federico Peña also participated.

Maria Echaveste and State Senator Gonzalo Barrientos participated.
March 3-6, 1999 Waterfront Hilton, Huntington Beach, CA.
A truly landmark event with the future President of Mexico, Vicente Fox, giving a landmark speech on what he would do if elected, and the next speaker, Edward James Olmos, challenging Fox to live up to his speech. Olmos held Fox to his word on various items. Robert Rodriguez screened his nearly completed El Mariachi. Congressmembers Xavier Becerra and Loreta Sanchez participated, along with author Maria Marin.

Penelope Cruz screened her first U.S. movie, Woman on Top. Wayne Newton performed. Both the Chairs of the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee participated, along with U.S. Senator Richard Bryan.
