2025 Letter from the President:

Dear NAHP Members and distinguished Partners,

As we embark on 2025, I am honored to welcome you to another transformative year for the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP). Our organization continues to be the voice and heartbeat of Hispanic media across the United States—and none of this would be possible without your dedication.

Our Impact & Reach

We proudly serve a weekly readership of 15.4 million Latino adults—a powerful 32% of the U.S. Latino population—through newspapers, magazines, websites, podcasts and newsletters. Notably, 92% of our readers trust NAHP outlets as “best” or “good” sources for local news, and 95% are predominantly concerned about misinformation. Their collective buying power? A remarkable $452 billion, signaling both trust and influence across consumer markets.

Elevating Hispanic Media Excellence

Our mission—to foster excellence, recognition, and professional advancement—has never been more crucial. In celebration of outstanding journalism, the 2025 José Martí Publishing Awards are now open for submissions. We invite all members to participate and showcase the talent and impact within our community.

Key Strategic Focus Areas for 2025
  • Deepen Community Engagement: Strengthen local storytelling and alert readers on issues affecting their lives.
Support for Member Growth: Expand professional development, workshops, and tools tailored for both print and digital platforms.
Combat Misinformation: Equip members with journalism and coverage strategies to combat fake news—an issue troubling 95% of our readership.
  • Amplify Advertising Opportunities: Work with our sponsors—T-Mobile, Wells Fargo, Diageo, Goya, USHCC, and the Google News Initiative, among others—to create new revenue options and campaigns.

2025 NAHP Convention
Mark your calendars! November 12-14 we will bring our annual convention to San Diego, California. Our annual convention remains a premier event for networking, training, and celebrating excellence. Details and registration are available on our website—stay tuned!

Gratitude to Our Sponsors & Partners

We extend heartfelt thanks to our sponsors and partners. Your support—from amplifying our voice to strengthening our reach—is foundational to our success, helping to elevate Latino journalism across the country.

In closing, I am inspired by the incredible achievements we’ve accomplished together and eagerly anticipate what remains ahead. Let’s continue to uplift Hispanic publications, empower our communities, and champion journalism that is authentic, truthful, and impactful.

Warm regards,
Alvaro Gurdian
President, National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP)
